THE SPORT AWARD

It has been a momentous year for Irish athlete Sarah Lavin. Specialising in sprint hurdling, the Limerick native has laid her marker on the international sporting stage. In August this year, she finished fifth in the 100m hurdles semi-final at the World Championships in Budapest, making her the fastest Irish female hurdler in Irish history. And in March, she finished third in the 60-metre hurdles semi-final on the final day of the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul. This means that within the last 18 months, Lavin has reached a World indoor, European outdoor, and European indoor final.
